The idea came up in partnership with a long-time client from Iceland: to produce fish skin shoes. Relance – Calçados Lda. went to work and chose Salmon, Lobo fish and Perca skins to give shape to the models. After importing the skins, also from Iceland, two of the best-selling models in the collection were chosen to be produced in a limited edition.
Initially only available to this Icelandic customer, the shoes had a surprisingly good impact and Relance Calçados decided to present them to the public in March 2010 at MICAM.
The use of this innovative material for the production of shoes earned Relance a lot of praise and prominence in the press. The use of fish skin gives these shoes a distinct look, quite elegant, and the skin texture ends up differentiating these pairs from other models.
This company’s fish skin shoes thus contradicted the most sceptical, who did not believe it was possible to transform this material into shoes.
